There is no other distillery in the world like Furneaux, and this Off Season experience invites you to discover what life looks like when your distillery sits on a windswept Bass Strait farm, surrounded by sea, weather, and wide-open skies.
Your journey begins at our working farm, where barley grows in salt-laced air and the landscape itself shapes our spirits. Learn how “place” truly becomes flavour as you explore the paddocks, see the peat soils that influence our whisky, and the beautiful coastline that we’re so lucky to enjoy.
From there, step inside our production facility for an up-close, hands-on tour of how we craft single malt whisky on one of the most remote distillery sites in Australia. Feel the heat of the stills, breathe in the sweetness of fermenting grains, and learn how we adapt to the colder temperatures.
Then we retreat to the bond store for the heart of the experience: an exclusive barrel tasting. Draw spirit straight from the cask alongside our distillers - young whisky, mature whisky, and special casks rarely shown to the public. Winter here is quiet, cool and ideal for maturing spirit, and tasting it in this season reveals a depth and softness unique to the time of year.
Finish by warming up in our tasting room with a generous spread of artisan cheeses, cured meats and other tasty snacks perfectly paired with single malt whisky.
Framed by dramatic coastal scenery, quiet farm tracks and the rugged calm of Flinders Island in winter, this experience is an invitation to slow down, embrace the elements, and see what real island whisky-making feels like from the inside.

This Off Season offer includes a full distillery experience at Furneaux Distillery and a selection of local snacks only. The total cost is $100 per person, with no additional inclusions. Flights, accommodation, and travel arrangements are not included in this offer. Guests are welcome to enquire if they would like guidance or recommendations for booking flights or places to stay on Flinders Island.
All bookings are subject to availability and may be adjusted to align with our farm and distillery production schedule. As we are a working distillery on a remote island, certain areas or activities may be modified at short notice to maintain safe operations.
Payment is required at the time of booking. Refunds are available up to 7 days prior to your booking date. Cancellations made within 7 days of the experience are non-refundable. Date changes within 7 days are not guaranteed and may be treated as a cancellation.
Guests must arrive on time for the scheduled experience. Late arrivals may result in reduced access to parts of the tour, with no partial refunds provided. This experience involves walking on uneven terrain, entering working production areas, and participating in outdoor elements; appropriate footwear and weather-ready clothing are required.
This offer is available exclusively during the Off Season campaign period. Furneaux Distillery reserves the right to reschedule or cancel experiences due to extreme weather, farm conditions, or unforeseen operational requirements. In the event that Furneaux Distillery cancels your booking, guests will be offered a full refund or an alternative date.
