The caramel and bright white confectionery notes from the casks - like milk bottle lollies and Fads - provide the perfect counterbalance to the earthy maritime peat smoke.

TASTING NOTES:

Big peat cushion on the nose, gentle and smoky with light white sugar and salt. Bright and balanced palate, white confectionary, smoke and sugar integrated beautifully. Lingering smoky opening a broader aroma of coastal peat aromatics.

STYLE NOTES

The discovery of peat on the island was the lighting-bulb moment for Furneaux Distillery. Since that discovery we have been foraging peat by hand, smoking our barley in our own fabricated malt kiln. Quite different to UK or other Australian peat, ours is from saline aquatic herb-lands. The vegetation is succulents, melaleuca and swamp-grasses, giving this whisky a gentle, aromatic smoke profile highlighted with brine and sweetness.
