TRUTH & CONSEQUENCE TOPAQUE CASK

We’ve been working with our friends at Truth & Consequence on a very special project - our first every independent bottling.
The motto at Truth and Consequence is “whisky with integrity, straight from the cask”. They do something we have rarely done - single cask, cask strength, unfiltered single malt whisky.
For this release we really wanted to do something we have never done before - a whisky fully matured in an American Oak Topaque cask.

Topaque is an Australian style of a Hungarian fortified wine Tokaji, made from Muscadelle grapes and aged for many years - often decades in a solera system of oak barrels. Over time, the wine develops a deep amber colour and rich, complex flavours of caramel, toffee, coffee, dried fruits, and nuts, with a luscious sweetness balanced by remarkable depth and intensity.
Traditionally known as Tokay (before naming regulations changed), Topaque is celebrated for its smooth, warming character and long finish, making it a perfect after-dinner sip or pairing with desserts and cheeses.
This single quarter cask was filled in December 2021 back when we were located at the Flinders Wharf in Whitemark, the main town of Flinders Island. When we ran out of space at the distillery we build our dunnage warehouse on the farm, loading this cask with all the others on the back of a truck and moving them to our new bondstore, where it’s been ageing ever since.
